How the iPad Defined the Tablet Demand

Much in the way that the iPhone seemed to take the niche smartphone market and make it mainstream1, they appeared to do the same with the iPad and the “tablet”2 genre of computers.

Marco Arment, founder of Instapaper and former lead developer of Tumblr takes his usual astuteness to point out that the iPad basically created the market for tablets and why and how tablets are still a weird market.
