I don’t know how to react to news that a 4th American Pie is in the works, but I can tell you that dearth of direct-to-DVD/TV sequels have been awful.
Mike Bracken from Cinematical:
Hard to believe it’s been over 10 years since ‘American Pie’ helped bring back the raunchy R-rated sex comedy and then threatened to kill it all over again with a series of sub-par sequels and direct-to-video spin-offs, but the first film debuted back in 1999. You know what that means? It’s time for a 10-year class reunion.
I guess I see the appeal to do the 10-year reunion thing since most of the fans of the original movie are around that same point in their lives.
What I think is most interesting is that the iconic movie of a generation1 didn’t produce a single person who would be considered a successful actor/actress. How crazy is it that Sean William Scott is easily the most successful of the original cast?
- And the first sequel was pretty solid too [↩]
