I don’t have a solution the the hardcore UI, UX, and technical design problems that exist above, but I do have a practical way to help.
Stop the notifications.
Pardon the exaggeration but this is like saying, “I have a solution to the energy crisis, let’s not use electricity or drive our cars anymore.”
I understand there is a fad going on right now towards minimalistic computing and distraction free environments but I don’t use my phone for productivity, I use it to communicate. I don’t find notifications distracting, I find them integral. I do wish the system on iOS was better, but I don’t believe the solution is to just give up.
