So ESPN releases and app to let people watch ESPN programming from their iOS device, but it’s limited to certain cable providers and doesn’t include Comcast or DirecTV. This is the first step towards networks providing content on iOS devices directly. I would imagine that if ESPN can find a way they will allow people without one of those providers to buy a subscription.
