2012 Chicago White Sox Contract Situations
- mlbtraderumors.com

Tim Dierkes from MLB Trade Rumors breaks down the White Sox’s free agents and arbitration eligibles for next season. The only true free agents are Buehrle, Jackson, Pierre, Vizquel and Castro.

I still think Buehrle will be back if the Sox want him. Jackson and Pierre are almost 100% gone1. I expect Vizquel to retire, but if not I guess he could be back. Castro won’t be back unless the Sox officially give up on Tyler Flowers.

The three arbitration eligible guys are Danks, Quentin and Pena. Danks is 100% lock to be offered. Pena most likely won’t be2 and Quentin is on the fence but ultimately I think they will because even if he has a big year I doubt he will get too much of a raise.

If the White Sox were playing well all of this would be a good thing. But with the way they are playing it just means that “rebuilding” will be tough. With Dunn, Konerko and Peavy tied up for big bucks things could get ugly.

  1. The only exception might be if Peavy can’t come back for some reason and has to retire []
  2. At least I wouldn’t []
