Marco Arment has a great piece on why the Apple location database on the iPhone isn’t that big of a deal in the big picture:
People would be similarly freaked out, if not more so, if they saw how much Facebook and Google know about them. But there are two major differences.
I love that he said this because I say it all the time. Google especially is undoubtedly collecting insane amounts of data about you. I have heard the theory that unless you are logged into Google1 this data is “anonymous.” I don’t buy that either because I am sure if they wanted to they could figure out who you are.
