Ben Brooks puts together a nice piece on why Microsoft and Steve Ballmer should part ways. He specifically talks about the recent Microsoft acquisition of Skype:
Even if it would have cost $1 billion dollars Microsoft would have been better off creating Skype in-house. Does anybody really think Apple spent anything close to $1 billion dollars building FaceTime?
So true. Either Microsoft has some grand plan that will more than justify the cost or this could be one the things that we cite 20 years from now as part of their downfall.
Its a really great piece with lots of missteps and quotes that make you laugh. He outlines what they need to look for in a new CEO as well.
It is one-sided though, so know that going in.
