Shawn Blanc goes in-depth on the topic of replacing the RSS feeds you read with Twitter. After conducting a survey, he found it wasn’t as common as he though:
In fact, they are checking there RSS feeds more actively than they are checking their Twitter feeds: 92% check their RSS feeds every day compared to 82% who check their Twitter feed every day.
These results aren’t likely perfect because most of Blanc’s audience are likely tech-heavy people, but it’s still interesting. I myself don’t follow many “feed-centric” Twitter accounts because the sites I care about most I wouldn’t want to miss posts from. There are some news sites I follow, but that’s more about staying current than absorbing quality content.
