MLB Faces of the Franchises: 2016 Edition
- espn.go.com

Eric Karabell of ESPN.com‘s SweetSpot Blog looks into his crystal ball to guess who will be the faces of all 30 franchise in the year 2016:

Chicago White Sox: David Wright, third base. The Mets clean house this winter and the star third baseman ends up in another large metropolis, in a deal centered around reliever Chris Sale and Brent Morel. He finds the Chicago media to be a breath of fresh air.

Well, that’s interesting.

It’s probably not insane, and as bad as the Sox offense has been this year I guess it makes some sense. Wright isn’t 30 yet and could still be a solid middle of the order guy if he finds his swing again, but the Sox don’t lack middle of the order guys and have Dunn and Konerko locked up for a couple of years.

Morel brings plus fielding and still has time to grow as a hitter. Add to that the fact that two of the six starters the Sox have are free agents this winter, another one is going to demand a lot of money soon and they have no one in their system who looks close, and trading Chris Sale probably doesn’t make sense.
