Bruce Feldman of ESPN Insider ($) answers a question in his mailbag regarding the futures of Michigan and Ohio St.:
The Wolverines, on the other hand, are set up pretty nicely coming out of the Rich Rodriguez era. They have almost every starter back going into 2011 and are led by a dynamic star in QB Denard Robinson. (They also have a promising young QB right behind him in Devin Gardner.) The cupboard isn’t bare, or even close to it, as the Brady Hoke era begins.
I told someone the other day that the sentiment in Ann Arbor went from “OH NO! BRADY HOKE!” in January, to “OH YEAH! BRADY HOKE!” in July. The 180 that has happened is remarkable. It’s clear that Hoke’s recruiting prowess has surprised the Wolverine faithful.
He also has a talented offense coming back, no matter what the system. And although Feldman thinks Michigan will still have to add a top-flight tailback before they regain national consideration, 4-star recruits (often injured) Fitzgerald Toussaint and true freshman Justice Hayes have potential to fill that void.
Bold prediction: Michigan opens 2012 in the top 10.
