Sepinwall on the Treme Season 2 Finale

This post refers to

Alan Sepinwall on the Treme season finale:

New Orleans is not for everyone. Nor is “Treme,” but when I take my fictional trip there every Sunday night, it doesn’t make sense that I would want to be anywhere else.

I know that lots of people don’t like Treme but I love it. Maybe it’s partly because I grew up listening to jazz music that my dad would be listening to, maybe it’s something else. I have heard people talk about how boring the plot is1 but I think it’s a nice change of pace to the current style of TV has presented to us. It seems like these days outrageous plot twists and mysteries are the only type of hooks people rely on.

Treme doesn’t have any of that, so far. But the characters are interesting, and seem real. And the post-Katrina New Orleans environment is entertaining. It’s one of my top 10 favorite TV shows right now, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

  1. Some would argue there is a complete lack of plot []
