KenWo of South Side Sox on US Cellular Field:
Normally I don’t pay for parking due to the neighborhood pass that I get every year from a family friend in the area. However, on this day I had to shell out the $23 for parking. I have been to a lot of different parks, and there is always “tiers” for parking. The nice lots right next to the stadium are more money than the ones 2 blocks away. Not at the Cell.
The parking at US Cellular Field is atrocious. It’s unorganized and you never know if you will get pushed to another lot until it’s too late. And the $23 price tag is so ridiculous. One thing KenWo failed to mention is that on games where the stadium is full, you run the rise of getting pushed across the highway to the “overflow lots” which also cost $23 and have the added bonus of a near 1 mile walk to the nearest gate.
The rest of KenWo’s piece hits on many of the flaws the White Sox have. The upper deck restrictions, the overpriced tickets1 and the general lack of understanding why the park isn’t full makes the White Sox just look dumb.
- Which, thanks to the secondary market, has made it impossible to get back your money when trying to unload season tickets [↩]
