Orbitz Get’s Creative With User Data

Orbitz Worldwide Inc. has found that people who use Apple Inc’s Mac computers spend as much as 30 percent more per night on hotels, so the online travel agency is starting to show them different, and sometimes costlier, travel options than Windows visitors see, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

I don’t think this individual incident is that big of a deal. The point I think people are missing is that this is a great example of where all that data the internet is collecting is going. Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc., this is the end game. This is just the first of what I expect to be the big trend of the next 5 years. If the data is collected anonymously I really have no problem with it.
