Robert Griffin III Could Be Great

I can’t help but be excited for Redskins fans. Hell, for anyone who likes football. The questions around Griffin all have a basis, but I’m not sure a better athlete (not named Mike Vick) has ever played quarterback. The feeling during that second half was that Griffin was capable of anything — you know, like Neo [from The Matrix].

I remember being aware of Griffin a while ago. He was a freshman in 2008 and won Big 12 Freshman of the Year that year. Then he got hurt in 2009 and ended up redshirting. Which is why last season it felt like he had been around for so long, because it was his 4th season essentially.

It’s really amazing how far he ascended. I don’t think it’s crazy that he won the Heisman Trophy because he was always talented enough to have a monster college season. I think it is surprising that he went so high and is such a regarded QB prospect. I think we are going to see a Deron Williams/Chris Paul scenario down the road. Where both are highly regarded out of college, both are elite players, but the guy who went 2nd ends up being the better player.
