2013 College Football Bowl Preview – Part 1

All times Central

Just wanted to touch on some bowl games in this first week worth watching.

Saturday, December 21st

Afternoon

Main Screen
Fresno St. at USC (2:30 pm/ABC) – One of just two top 25 vs. top 25 games before January 1st. USC let interim coach Ed Orgeron go, and it’s yet to be determined how coaching will go for this bowl game. Fresno St. features likely future first rounder Derek Carr, and is coming off an 11-win season after a disappointing loss to San Jose St. in their last regular season game. This one could be good, and Carr will be out to show off one last time.

Thursday, December 26th

Evening

Main Screen
Utah St. at Northern Illinois (8:30 pm/ESPN) – Utah St. lost their starting QB Chuckie Keaton early in the season, but still went 7-1 in the Mountain West conference. They lost some non-conference games against name schools (Utah, USC and BYU). Their best win is probably San Jose St. So this one might not be as close as it could have been. NIU got crushed in the MAC Championship after a great run, but their best win was against Iowa in week 1. As good as Jordan Lynch has been, they haven’t beaten anyone of note either.
